TARANGIRE, NGORONGORO & SERENGETI
Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro airport, you will meet your guide who will transport you to your first hotel. The rest of the day is yours to get acquainted with Arusha as you wish!
This trip is an exclusive private safari. Not only does this means that you receive the expert guidance of a private travel expert, but when it comes to the itinerary – you are in charge. Whether you’re an early bird or just not a morning person, all through your plans with your guide on day one.
We will spend our night at selected lodge.
Tomorrow morning your Tanzania safari will begin!

Day 2: Tarangire National Park

Let’s enjoy breakfast with the light breaking over this fascinating volcanic landscape before we embark to Tarangire National Park. We’ll make a lunch stop along the way and arrive around midday.
Elephants may well be Tarangire’s calling card – over 3,000 of these majestic creatures roam this compact but vibrant park. But sightings of lions are not uncommon.
Another distinctive attraction of the reserve is the great stands of baobab trees that populate its savannahs. These distinctive trees with their fat trunks and short branches are picturesque sentinels seemingly guarding these ancient plains.
We’ll spend the evening at the selected Lodge.

Day 3: Hadzabe Bushmen

After breakfast at 07:30 you will drive to Lake Eyasi.
The Hadzabe Bushmen are the last true hunter-gatherers in East Africa, around the lake live about 700-800 tribesmen in small groups. The Hadzabe live almost the same way as our own ancestors in the Stone Age. They hunt animals with bow and arrow and collect fruits, roots and honey from the baobab trees. The Hadzabe hunt antelopes and gazelles, but also smaller animals such as birds or mongooses.
In the late morning you will visit then the Datoga tribe. These pastoralists are also skilled blacksmiths. They collect metal scrap, which they cleverly process into bracelets, arrowheads and knives. You also have the opportunity to visit one of the huts in the village. Here you can watch the women how they grind flour from corn and other home activities.
We will spend our night and dinner at selected Lodge.

Day 4-6: Serengeti National Park

There will be a safari breakfast to start and soon we’re hopping into our 4 x 4 for the journey to the Serengeti. We’ll stop along the way for a scenic picnic.
But in no time, we’ll come upon the endless plains of the famous Serengeti. There we will enjoy an afternoon game drive through Tanzania’s greatest park. All Big Five are found here.
We’ll fill the next two days with game drives to explore the immense space and unlimited wildlife in this park. Besides, lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino, all sorts of creatures fill these savannahs. Look for baboon, and unlimited wildebeest and zebra. Besides the sprawling grasslands, the park also features areas of forest and dense bush where we may find hippo and crocodile.
We’ll spend our three nights at Selected Lodge.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast on the grassy plains of Serengeti, we will depart for Ngorongoro Crater. Upon arrival at the Ngorongoro Conservation Area we will descend the crater walls down to the rich habitat supporting over 25,000 animals with the highest density of predators in Africa.
We’ll travel through springs, forest, and grasslands spying wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, and the big cats that stalk them. The Ngorongoro is also home to the endangered black rhino where they continue to breed in the wild. Here you may also find flamingoes at the alkaline waters of Lake Magadi. We’ll pause our safari for a mid-day picnic lunch and then continue with an afternoon game drive, before ascending the steep crater walls toward evening.
We will spend the night at Selected Lodge.

Day 8: Mto wa Mbu Cultural Experience

The bustling farming community of Mto Wa Mbu, located between Manyara and Ngorongoro, is home to around 18,000 people. Spend a half day here with a knowledgeable local guide and you’ll discover a side of Tanzania that many visitors miss. Your guide is likely to be from the village itself so you will have an opportunity to see the community through the guide’s eyes.
You will probably start in the village banana plantation, visit a youth art project, visit a wood workshop, where you can watch skilled members of the Makonde tribe carefully carving intricate figurines. You may visit a local ‘bar’ to try mbege, the traditional banana and millet beer that is brewed and drunk mainly by the Chagga tribe. Your tour will probably finish in the bustling local market, where you can wander around stalls selling fruit and vegetables stalls, spices and meat.
You will return to Arusha to prepare for your departure the next day.
